I'd rather not be in the position to have to worry about it.

3 for bows. They not easy to shoot and in condfied spaces a crossbow is better.

A Bow is only good if you got the training.

What else are you going to do in the apoc but have a lot of time to train? Once you establish a base and some security you should have plenty of time since there are no tv, video games, etc.

I prefer the bow. Faster reload time. When I'm out of arrows and desperate enough I can use the bow as a club. Maybe I can put some spikes on the handle of the bow and use it as a punch dagger for close quarter combat.

Maybe this would be better, an auto loading crossbow. You'll just need to have a good supply of CO2 cartridges.

The repeating crossbow has been arround since 4th centuary BC. They have far less accracy and pentrastion though. More a mass volly type thing.

You may think you have a lot of free time but you going to be busy with lots of daily chores and a crossbow is just far easyer to use. Any time you need the increased rate of fire of a Bow you may has well just use a gun.

For all I like the longbow, I'd not been wanting it as a ZA weapon, unless for hunting animals for food.

You'd need to be really good to take out a zed first shot !

It would depends on the type of zombies. If they are slow shamblers then I might be able to get close enough to get a head shot. If they are runners, then forget it. I'll have to be like Legolas in order to kill any runner with a head shot.

You'd need explosive tips to make sure the shot really has an effect, as an arrowhead/bolt might not be enough to do enough to kill a zed.

I agree with LW. To be proficient with a bow takes a hell or a lot more practice than a gun. Getting a head shot with one would be much harder than with a gun.
