Morale boosters

Postby Eddiethehead » Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:48 pm

I've heard of people keeping little things in their big out gear that will keep them happy or take their mind off of what the current situation is, like candy, cigarettes etc...I thought this wasn't too bad of an idea. So I put in my BOB a little picture of my girlfriend and I, a picture of my family, a couple unopened cans of Copenhagen snuff.Normally I dip about 2-3 cans a week but I'm sure in a SHTF scenario I could make two cans last a looooong time. You can keep it fresh by adding a couple drops of water to the can.
Also, I've heard of books. Those would take up a bit too much space but I keep a couple books I've already read in my truck. Not in case of a SHTF scenario but just as something to pass the time if I stop somewhere in the course of the day or for something to read at school. I've heard of music players too, but I tend to stay away from electronics in my setup except for flashlights, my laptop, cell phone and chargers.
Do you guys do things like this?
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise, and said "I need a caretaker."
So God made a farmer.

I have a few cans of snuff in my gear, plus a deck of cards and some dice.

Las Vegas nekkid lady cards.
Dice, 6-sided and polyhedron, (D&D Rules!!!)
I have an old CD player Walkman...it weighs about a pound and you can replace the batteries, (unlike an iPod that needs to be recharged).
Uno card game.
About a pound of hard candy, lasts forever and always brings a smile to the kids faces.
With the little ones, comfort-type morale boosters go a long way. A stuffed animal, a couple of pocket games. I found a bandanna that has a checkers/chess board printed on it, weighs next to nothing and with some rocks or coins, instant entertainment...

A solar recharger capable of charging a mp3 player would be a good idea.
Not that I have one but I may look into it.

My GO bag has nothing for entertainment in it.
I am going to give this some thought.

I no longer use tobacco products and I don't live in Colorado so that option is out.

I would need chocolate! I would also bring a book or two (a survival guide and a novel) and a notebook (I like to write and draw--both are relaxing).

Can I bring my cat(s) too? They would certainly be morale boosters for me.

The cats would keep the mice out of the corn squeezins grain so they would earn their way for sure.

Bob, two of my four cats are great hunters, one is a stalker but not a killer, and one is a lazy oaf. That means only two are of worth...sigh...I guess I can live with two. ;)

Red, is Fang a cat?

UD, that is very sweet--too bad you have so far to travel to make it to Serenity. By the time you arrive, the scratch pad would be all used up by your boy.
