If you had a good pilot, enough spare parts, fuel and good ground support I could see a chopper being usefully. What about a litel gyro copter.

In the end if a group has access to a aircraft fixed wing or rotary they in a really good postion.

Not necessarily. All the logistics needed to keep an aircraft running would be a huge burden on any group. And then there's the noise....

Had a tactical epic helicopter insertion earlier this week. Flying low between mountains...

I love helicopters. Worked them for years as a Flight Ops Specialist, Air Traffic Controller, Door Gunner, and Aerial Photographer. Flew plenty of NOE.

They are loud though. You know when one is over head even when in side.

Never had a trip in one. I do see them flying arround a lot though. I once had a close up view of a fast rope inserstion.I mean I was 5 away.

I've been in two different ones in my life. I'm not a fan of flying, especially next to a wide open door while doing so. Firing an Uzi replica out of one was pretty cool. Took my mind off falling out of it for a brief moment.

It's a job for someone who has less than a full load of common sense and has the thought of a shorter than normal life expectancy, especially on the old UH-1s. God, I loved that old bird. Nothing more exhilarating than hanging out the door with a pig.

Straps are for pussies. I rarely used them when flying. I'd tether myself when I knew I had to hang way out the door, but that was about it.
