How's about this ?

Not to travel long distances, but can be used on land and water, if the original location is compromised.

Could be fitted out with shelter, supplies, shooting platform, etc.

Never saw one of those before, very interesting! Too bad it wasn't a little bit faster on land though. It definitely has merits and could be beneficial if outfitted properly.

Its little brother in the article seems a bit better and even runs on diesel. Home heating oil would most likely work in it as well, so you can probably refill from dead houses with oil tanks.

Are the tires solid or filled with air?

I'm thinking air, as I reckon solid would affect buoyancy.

However, maybe it would be possible to get solid tyres to prevent punctures.

Solid tire would be kind of rough but would be totally puncture proof.

Yes solid tyres would be recommended.

The sheer size of the vehicle and tyres, even if moving slowly on land would just push/crush through a zombie horde, either when the latter is standing or over their fallen bodies to move to a new clearing, perhaps after a battle where the surrounding zeds were wiped out possibly due to gunfire from the top 'ramparts' of this mobile fort.

The smaller vehicle illustrated doesn't have the same height and strength advantage, nor hold much people and supplies.

More useful as a last resort escape craft across water.
