You can do desalnastion.

Rember salt is heaver than watter and thicker. So you could put togerther your own desatlion plant. And all bigger ships have them all ready.

I get sick. I'd end up needing most of the water aboard. As soon as it went down, it's up and over the rail.

I generally stay off of the water but I am comfortable on boats/ships. Probably get it from my paternal grandfather who used to sail up and down the eastern seaboard, from Nova Scotia to the Florida Keys. I suspect he may have been a booze runner back in the old prohibition days, it was a bit hard to make a living around that point in history.

That being said, sailing rigs can be pretty efficient and fairly safe most of the time- keeping close to land helps. However, the piracy factor would most likely increase considerably as well. Barring derelict vessels, you would only be dealing with living threats on the waters.

Only 3 years and only 1 years on the ships

1 year shora including basic traing of 6 moths
1 year on tugs, and rhibs under harbour master
1 year now on the small craft, but i spend to bloody loong baby siting civlian patrol/reshearch boats.

Still i am working with people who have enough experiance.

SA doese not do that whole rotastion thing where you spend time on a ship then ashoar. You on ships you on ships, only place they send you is other ships, or you need to fail your phsyc exame or somthing.

Any case all the gunners during a ops are leading seamans(corprals) AB just load and i work dive deparment with the RHIB.
