I happen to have a late war Japanese bayonet. It has so far been determined as possibly being a training bayonet, unconfirmed fully as of yet. I can put up a pic of it later on.

So, next up is a pair of Katars:

Image

These are Indian weapons of a very sturdy and devious nature. They lend themselves nicely to punching attacks, and slashing attacks gain a lot of impetus from the body as well. Originally from the early 1500s, it would easily pierce chainmail as the blades are usually heavy and reinforced for their size. They vary in size and shape, some even having built in firearms on the sides. Scissor versions have been made as well but are fairly useless and more decorative wall hangers. I am fairly certain these could get into zombie coconuts, guaranteed in the facial regions. Not much can stop a punch from a blade such as these.

They are a vicious weapon indeed. This pair I have had for over 30 years now, they can be pretty hard to find- good ones, that is.

That one is a tad different, and about only 25% the size of a Katar. A 12"+ blade keeps them a little bit distant. Not to say that your example isn't good against living opponents though.

So, time for another one:

Image

Replica 15th century roundel dagger.

Pretty straightforward design, a long thing single edged blade about 14" in length with a sturdy hilt and pommel. Originally for getting into the weak spots of armored opponents, preferably while down. The blade lends itself nicely to going through leather and chain mail links but they are not up to heavy work. If you are doing fence detail like we've seen on a certain show, this would probably be your choice out of my goodies. The pommel could probably smash through a zombie skull, last ditch moments only though- more than one and you're probably done!

I'm a little late to the party here...
Always been fond of short swords:
Image
My Rob Criswell wakasashi.
18" A2 steel blade with a paracord-over-micarta wrapped handle.
1/4" thick at the spine, not a traditional styled Wakasashi by any stretch but a real workhorse. Bought it in 1998.

My most recent acquisition:
Image
The Kershaw Camp 18.
18" high carbon steel blade. Full tang under a rubber over-molded handle.
The very low price belies the functionality and awesomeness of this big-ass knife!

I think I was looking into Rob Criswell stuff a while back, that one looks nice. The Japanese chisel point blade style lends nicely for hard penetrations(at least with good blades). Definitely looks VERY MUCH better than your average mall ninja stuff, how much was it if you don't mind me asking? I've seen too many crappo stuff out there unfortunately. Costs you to get the decent stuff, and mail/internet order can be VERY disappointing to say the least. A good find, thanks for showing!

Ah, you have the cosmoline off now! Full tangs on blades are VERY important(I'm assuming your wakizashi is) as the ones with thin rods or bars with pommels threaded onto the ends are pretty much useless. It doesn't take very long at all for them to start bending or loosening up- usually both at once too. This one shows that there ARE decent blades to be had these days that can be affordable as well. Another goodie Sir!

:good post:

Let's see some more stuff out there, that way we can all find some new and improved additions to the armory!!! :ugeek:
