Slice 'Em, Dice 'Em, Smash 'Em

Although I've handled swords and machetes before, I'd still be worried about about hacking off one of my own limbs using one in a ZPAW. I'd go with my camp axe if nescessary. Besides, it could also be used as a hammer for tent stakes and annoying side-kicks. Much more desirable in a PAW (or not).
I was also pretty good with a staff (or broomstick) at one time. But alas, they wouldn't be too much help in the ZPAW.

I spent a good part of my late teens and early 20's busting heads in the SCA. One of my best friends dads when I was growing up had been an Olympic-level fencer and we used to screw around with him quite a bit.
While I have never had any formal training with swords and stuff, I feel pretty comfortable with one.
Would an edged or bludgeoning weapon be my first choice in the ZPAW?
No frickin way! But if it was all I had I'd still feel pretty confident that I could use it to "fight to my rifle".
As long as there weren't too many bad guys or undead...swinging any kind of melee weapon around for more than a couple of minutes is VERY tiring.

And that's the big drawback to melee weapons. Unless you're the Hulk you'll tire fairly quickly swinging some kind of sword or bludgeon.

If there is one zeds arround I iwould use a axe or hammar to put him down. I would not fight groups.

You may not have a choice.

Very true. But I would rather run than fight.

Why die tired- cooler heads prevail. Teamwork is best, especially in melee situations.

This is probably my favorite blade.

I agree. Keep it simple. Anyway I would absolutely hack off a limb (mine or someone with me) with any sword.
