Need a Replacement K-Bar

Postby Bob » Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:50 am

Well it's official.]
I am getting old.
I left my car unlocked and some son of a bitch stole the K-Bar from under my seat.
I guess I should be thankful I did not leave a pistol in the car.
Anyway I now need to replace my K-Bar.
I have lots of other knives but I need another K-Bar.
I would like to get one that has a leather washer handle and is not stamped with a particular branch of the military.
I am not adverse to a high tech steel if the price is right.

If none of you has an extra one you would be willing to sell or trade, I am looking for suggestions.

While there's naught wrong with the original Ka-Bar, I would highly recommend taking a look at the Becker BK-7.
Same length as the USMC fighting knife, but full-tang and practically indestructible.

I forgot to add:

I am truly sorry about your loss Bob.
Having been the victim of more than one blade theft I can certainly empathize.
If I had more than one Ka-Bar, I send it to you, (right along with those boxes of 300Win Mag, d'oh!!)
But sadly I have only one, and it's more of a keepsake than a user.

Much like a 1911, I think no collection is complete without one.
If anyone has a spare 1911 lying around, my collection is incomplete BTW :-)

I hope you find the person who ripped you off, but be comforted to know that there is a special place reserved in hell for thieves. And Karma is a bitch!

That sucks brother.
My K-Bar was stolen from my car when I first moved back to CA. I reported it, filled out the forms, and had a visit from 2 cops the next day. They wanted to know why something like that was in my car in the first place and threatened to charge me. I made them leave the front porch while shooting them the double bird......

Mr K
The Becker is a solid looking knife.
I don't really need another knife, you got it right though it's part of a collection.
I will find one somewhere possibly at a gun show or I will break down and just order one.
It's hard to find one now that has a leather sheath and is not stamped with some branch of the military.
From what I could see they even stamp that on the tang now.
I don't want serrated or tanto point and I don't want to pay the price of a nice pistol for it.

What you are saying hold true to the fact we are no longer free.

From what Red tells me double edged knives are forbidden in MA.
I guess that extra edge makes them the assault rifles of knives.
Too deadly for civilians.

That is all too true, I found out about double edged knives the hard way back in 1982...

of course that didn't prevent me from being stabbed by one in 1993.

Carrying one here is a felony. No double edged blades, no auto knives with a blade longer than 1.5 inches, no carrying a blade longer than 4 inches (but I do carry a 5.5 inch blade when camping/hiking/backpacking and have never been questioned). No push/punch knives or neck knives either.....

My Ka-bar that my brother gave to me after boot camp and I later took to Afghanistan was stolen in a similar manner. Sorry to hear about your loss. I need to get a new one come to think of it. Hadn't thought of it since I got my SRK.

I hear ya, it's something that comes to the forefront once in a while.
Once I croak off it won't be a big deal anyway, it will just be another big knife in a drawer full of big knives to my kids.
