This is what I have I want the shorter one now and it has the bladed spike not the thick pointed handle although this does work and it serves its purpose of being a handle while walking.

I kind of like that, how is it?

Oh, and the 11"+ is good- military grade steel is nice. That is where bigger bayonets start getting better!

For a ZPAW, the 7 inch blade. It could cover most anything.

I like it. I have seen reviews where people have said it sucked and broke (usually in the same spot third bolt in the handle that holds the head) but mine has performed well I look forward to when I get to let my inner Highlander out.

For a folder to be useful for more than peeling an apple or performing minor surgery it needs to have a 4" blade.
That is the sweet spot on a folder.

On a fixed blade it should be no smaller than a normal KA-Bar which if memory serves is 7".

Bob you're exactly right, My folder is 4.25 inches and works great for everyday things, but for bushcraft and survival, you need something bigger.

If I could have one blade and one blade only, I'd go with my Cold Steel Kukri machete. good for choppy, slashy, hacking type stuff. The blade near the handlecan be used for the finer stuff, and sliding your finger up near the point on the spine and you could theoretically skin game with it.

If we're talking strictly knives, I'd go with my Cold Steel SRK or my Ka-bar. The SRK is at the lower limit of what I consider a functional fixed blade, but at 6 or 6 1/4 inches, it does it's job well. The Ka-bar is a choice for an obvious reason though. Even match between those two.

Excuse me, I misrepresented the length. I usually carry either a Benchmade Barrage which has a 3.6 inch blade, or a Cold Steel Hold Out which has a 4 inch blade. Both serve me well.
