Any opinions on solid precut 3/4in plywood pieces to cover windows to bug in the first weeks.

Sounds like a good idea. I was just thinking though about something else. My parents house used to have fake shutters a long time ago. Would moveable storm shutters be a good idea? Twofold usefulness- keeps out weather and the problems at hand while allowing you to open from inside if egress is necessary.

My reasoning is BC we have a two story home. And the bottom is the only vulnerable spot from zeds and in every zombie movie it seems those who use boards crossed their windows get them torn off BC the zeds can grab them. The shutter idea could work BC of the down ward angle of the slats but still leaves a possibility of them getting a grip.

I think the most secure window covering would be the iron bars that are used to deter burglary in bad areas of town. They are heavy duty and screwed in tight. Adding a layer of plywood on the inside of the window would keep out the weather should the glass be broken and it would also hide your movements and any light that might filter out.

If you were going to use shutters, you would need metal ones for good protection. The wooden ones are meant to keep out weather, not constant hammering from zombies hordes.

Butcher block shutters with small vision slits with heavy duty hinges and crossbolts to secure them- maybe even a crossbar to hold it.

Yeah, if it is crossbolted or crossbarred nothing's going to pull them open from the outside.

Plywood ? - I've recently bought and used 20 lengths of larch.

Heavy and solid as fuck.

So impressed with the quality, will be ordering more soon.
