How long do you think it would take for a pair of shoes on a Zombie to wear out?

I wear out a pair of shoes in 6 to 12 months. They are still functional, but ratty. I think with constant movement and exposure to the elements, a good pair of leather shoes would be obsolete in 12 months, but this is just a guess. Cloth shoes wouldn't last long--a few months at most.

Constantly moving? A few months I'd say. My house shoes are a pair of Vans and I've had them for 8 years. Work boots that I used to wear everyday lasted around a year.

I'd give most shoes a couple months because the zombies would be scuffing their feet along the ground and likely always on their feet. Well-made shoes like hiking boots and work boots would likely last longer.

I think it would depend on the brand, how well they are made, how active the Zombie is and the climate the Zombie is in. I've had a pair of Red Wings boots for 4 years that I've worn for everyday at home and at work and they are still decent I've also had Brahma Boots last a week but know people that have had pairs for over a year I think it would also depend on how well the person took care of there footwear before they turned.

So perhaps 6 months to a year on average.

Do you guys agree with that?

Sounds reasonable.
Remember, these things would be on their feet 24/7, dragging the soles on the ground, walking through mud, sand, rocks, you name it, without ever cleaning them off or taking care of them.
A GOOD pair of shoes/boots would last 6months, tops. A less than quality pair, considerably less time.

OK so 6 months before the sole of at least one foot is exposed to the abrasion of walking.

I actually think the bottom of a Zombies foot would be the wettest part of a Zombie.
Simple physics (gravity) indicates without a functioning circulatory system moisture would collect in the lowest point of the body.
The feet should in short order turn to mush incapable of function.
But for the sake of discussion lets set that aside.

Keeping in mind Zombie tissue does not callus or regenerate how long to wear a typical human foot down to the point of uselessness?
Human / Zombie tissue is not as abrasion resistant as the shoes they were wearing.
Which do you think would go first, the toes or the bottom of the foot?

Another point though- if a zombie stumbles and falls, does it bother to get back on its feet or crawl on all fours? Slower maybe and wearing down all 4 appendages, but harder to see at a number of times. Don't know how long they would keep walking on bone foot soles since they feel no pain.

We need to have real world zombie testing!
