Vigilantes, Bounty Hunters, Mercenaries in a ZA ?

I'd imagine initially, all humans not turned, would be termed survivors.

We know of Survivalists, Preppers, people going lone wolf, but would these other terms in the topic title start appearing, as said survivors start finding their niche in a ZA ?

Self-appointed vigilantes hunting down raiders, etc.

Bounty Hunters being paid in supplies, etc., to do the same job, or eradicate the zeds from the surrounding area of small communities, etc.

Mercenaries, ex-soldiers using their pre-ZA profession as a paid militia.

Even Gunfighter sounds damn good.

I like all the idea of all these terms appearing in my script idea, and any others of a similar ilk.

This way, it'd show how the general term for all humans, starts breaking down into individuals.

I'm sure all of them would show up in some form or another.

I'm sure more people would die trying to get themselves a name like that than would actually accomplish anything. My guess would be teens or twenty somethings that got lucky and now consider themselves so soopor awperatr because they made it through the initial six months of chaos

Yes. You've surely seen movies where some characters were nothing in the real world until the SHTF.

Some would try to reinvent themselves to give them more value to others in a ZA, rather than just being a burden.

Whether it be a trade or a skill at killing (both humans and zeds) it still means they have worth.

You'd need to prove yourself to make it with others in a ZA.

Bluffing ain't gonna cut it.

Yes. That appears to be the scenario used in the film Priest, based after a long Human vs Vampire War.

Worth? I'm not too sure about that. Any fool can kill. It takes no great skill. The values, at least in my mind, comes in why one kills. Does one kill because he wants to be called the greatest gun fighter? Where's the value in that?

Gunfighter, as in, their reactions are quicker than most, as per the bar scene in TWD where Rick manages to draw and take out two opponents. So, in a ZA, if survivors see someone do such a thing firsthand, it is likely he'll be labelled a gunman/gunfighter.

Or as UD said, pure ego, a chance to make a name for themselves in this new world.
