Top Ten?

Top Ten?

Postby UnderDude » Mon Dec 08, 2014 11:07 pm

I DO NOT agree with the list or it's order, but I definitely agree with some of the small arms listed.
This came from a gun magazine I bought for the first time. We can each come up with our own top ten list.....

1) Thompson M1/M1A1
2) M3/M3A1 "Grease Gun"
3) Reising M50 and M55
4) BAR (M1918A1/A2)
5) British Sten
6) Browning M1919A4/A6 machine gun
7) Russian PPSh41
8) British Bren LMG
9) German MG34
10) Russian PPS

Here's mine.....

1) M1 Garand (No other possible #1 IMO)
2) German MG42 (I chose this over the MG34 because of ease of manufacturing)
3) Browning BAR (Devastating in the right hands)
4) Colt 1911 (Hard to argue against this weapon)
5) Thompson M1918A1/A2 (I'd choose this if I was there)
6) British SMLE (If I had to go to battle with a bolt gun it would be this one)
7) German Mauser 98k (Aren't nearly all other bolt guns based on this design?)
8) M1/M2 carbine (I'm not a fan of the chambering but it was innovative and handy)
9) German MP40 (One helluva design)
10) Springfield 1903M4 (Was there a more accurate rifle in WW2?)

I'd probably find a spot for the STG44 in there somewhere...just on the basis of pure innovation.
Maybe bump one of the WWI-era bolt guns...
And I strongly believe the Hi-Power, (saw service on both sides), and P38 deserve at least an honorable mention.

Is this only for military/WW2 era guns?
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise, and said "I need a caretaker."
So God made a farmer.
