It's nothing much, but we got some trigger time this weekend. Spent time shooting the guns we'll be getting for myself and the missus. She likes Glock, and I like 1911 the best. Got to shoot a Rock Island and a Sig 1911. Then I did a bit of price checking to see how much I'll be paying for each, and decided that I'll pay the extra 200 for the Sig.

Very nice.

I am a Glock Guy myself but I started out with a Colt 1911.
For years I preferred a 1911 over all others and Colt over all other brands.

The Sig is a nice pistol and you wont' regret it.
I still favor Colt but I have been told that is because I am old.

Have you seen the double stack Para-Ordnance?
The grip on them is a bit large for some people.

Yeah I've seen them, and the grips are a bit bigger than I like.

I'm not strictly speaking, a 1911 guy, but I like them.

Been doing some looking around for a good carry gun. Billings is starting to become a really bad place, then again I hsrdly ever leave the farm unless I'm going to shoot pool (I'm on a league) or buy groceries and cigarettes. I want to make sure I'm protected, especially now that I have gotten death threats and was jumped by a bunch of lowlife punks last month.
And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise, and said "I need a caretaker."
So God made a farmer.

Eddie

All bullshit aside.
Be very cautious if you start carrying a gun.
They are binary devices.
You cannot unshoot someone.

If you pull one and show it to a potential opponent that is brandishing and can land you in jail.
In my state a firearm cannot be used to defuse an argument.
You need to be very very clear on the law in your state, especially if your altercation is with a protected minority.
The showing of or use of a firearm should be the very last thing you try.
Walk AWAY!
Your pride might be injured a bit but trust me it is the correct thing to do.

I hope I would never ever have to use it. I stary away frim arguments and keep a level head but like I said if I am ever jumped by 30+ people again for no reason, I will fire becaude that is a life or death siuation.
I am lucky the cops showed up when they did otherwise they were not going to stop until I wasn't fighting back or moving anymore.

Just offering the same advise I offer to everyone when they mention they are going to start carrying a firearm.
Just be cautious.
A lot of people get what I call the hairy chest syndrome when they first start carrying, I did.
You feel ten feet tall and covered with hair, invulnerable if you will.
Once you start carrying you need to be more willing to walk away.
That should be your goal, to walk away.

In a situation like you described well I can't say what I would do until I was there.
That many people sounds like a riot.
Just keep a level head and get licensed by your state.

Definitely less likely to get in an altercation when I carry. Don't need cops around when carrying in this state.

Amen to that. After I joined the Marines I decided I needed to carry. 18 years old, full of myself and thinking I'm bulletproof. For that first month I ran around hoping someone would make a move so I could John McClain their asses.

Well, I bought a Glock 17 from an old friend of mine, he wanted like 250 for it so I capitalized on it.
